GWEN TOLBART:

A trailblazer and communication pro, Gwen Tolbart is an Emmy Award winning, five-time Emmy Nominated Television Broadcaster. Her television work has also earned her several Associated Press Awards and five National Association Of Black Journalist (NABJ) Broadcast Awards. She was named as one of the ”2014 Top 100 Women in the State of Maryland”.

Her broadcast career began in her hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada as Host/Co-Producer of a Cable news magazine show. A trailblazer, she was the first African Canadian to work as a Weather/News Anchor on the nationally aired "Weather Network" and, as a Weather Anchor and Host of an internationally syndicated travel show at CTV’s CFCF-12.

She went on to work at KTVT (CBS) in Dallas, TX, as a Weather Anchor, Feature Reporter and Live Talk Show Host. Since 2002 she has been a Weather Anchor/Reporter at WTTG (Fox5 Local News) in Washington, DC where she can be seen on-air weekly.

Her strong community commitment and professional achievements have earned her much recognition and many numerous awards in both Canada & the USA, including commendation from the Governor of Texas, the United States Congress and the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. She was awarded the prestigious "NABJ National Community Service Award", given to only one of their 3000 members annually. Gwen is listed in “Who’s Who in Black Canada” and “Who’s Who in Black Washington” and while in Texas was named “A Woman Of Distinction” by the Metro Business & Professional Women’s Club of Hurst, TX.

Gwen is a Board Member of "Our House," a non-profit serving abused and homeless male youth, and has been involved with countless non-profits including the Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Fund and New Endeavors for Women” (serving homeless women). She is a former Board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the DC Chapter of the National Speaker’s Association. While in Canada she founded “Positive Images”, a mentorship program for inner city girls.

A survivor of a near-fatal car crash, Gwen’s presentations and work on stage are an example of her tenacity, zest and deep passion for life that she shares with her audience and clients.
